The artist tries to show us that nature is in jeopardy, that the signs of an inevitable change are clearly visible, all the signs are there, everywhere around us, to anyone who wants to see them. The emissary sent by the earth is here a polar bear, he comes from the far north, it advances through a dense tropical forest far from its territory. It carries a message that it intends to convey to humans.
The duality between cold and warm is expressed by the main subject and the surrounding scenery, the tropical forest is mainly painted with shades of blue, cold and dark. The mixture of both of them the two seeks to create a misunderstanding of the perception of the work. The background pattern with Polynesian flowers is a recurrence in Caroline Basuyau’s works, it is the affirmation of a deep anchoring to these territories made of mysterious and paradisiacal islands. The white dots are there to indicate the temporality of the scene, probably the twilight time, when some lie down and others rise, the moment when anything can happen and chimeras appear at the turn of a forest.
