Caroline Basuyau shows here one of the mysteries of the Amazonian forests, the jaguar is the most powerful fetish animal of the South American continent, the first peoples still dedicate an important cult to it. The main subject, the jaguar, is here artificially taken out of the landscape, as if the forest was withdrawing before the animal’s steps. In the wild, the jaguar is an essential link in the balance of nature; it governs and designates who must give way. However, this great predator is more fragile than it seems, deforestation, hunting, genetic impoverishment, if this one tended to disappear it is all the Amazonian biodiversity which would be unbalanced forever. With this analogy of the colossus with feet of clay, Caroline Basuyau wanted to show that in nature appearance is often deceiving.<\/p>\n
